Aimée Fardell School of Dance has been running since 2007. Classes are held here at the Glenmore Centre and in Kegworth!
It is a well established school with very talented students of all ages! They have had many students go to develop their dance career further, to English National Ballet School, Tring, Urdang, LIPA to name a few!
They excel in their dance exams with a 100% pass rate with the IDTA and students always come out with glowing reports and results.
It is a fun yet disciplined dance school that offers training in ballet tap and modern dance, along with adult dance classes.
The club was started after a model railway exhibition in March 1983 at the Hind Leys Community College, Shepshed.
Initially around forty people expressed an interest in the club in July 1983, after which it reduced to around thirty. Following much discussion it was decided to build a 00 gauge layout.
During 2008 the club moved to a new meeting place in an upstairs room at the Glenmore Community Centre in Shepshed. This move gave us a larger storage area for the clubs layouts.
The club meets every Wednesday at 7:30pm, with a running night on the second week of every month.

The Glenmore Art Group is a friendly mixed ability art group. We meet every Thursday morning from 10-12.30.
Members use a variety of media from watercolour, acrylic to pastel, depending on individual style. We choose what to work on, and are supportive of each other. We have regular demonstrations or workshops by established artists in the above media.
Most years we have a trip in the summer to Patchings Art Festival at Calverton, and occasionally other outings including outdoor painting and a boat trip. We have an on-going exhibition of the work of our members in the Lounge area of the Centre.

The Shoto-Ryu Karate club in Shepshed has been running since 1995 at the Glenmore Centre. The club meets on a Monday night starting at 7.30pm and finishes at 9.30pm.
Ages that are taught are from 12 years or above. Shoto-Ryu karate traces its roots back to Gichin Funakoshi (The founder of modern day karate) and tries to maintain its links with the early methods of learning.
It emphasises the development of the mind through the body with the ultimate goal of both the mind and body working as one. It is a traditional style and is not practised as a competitive style.
There is philosophy attached to all martial arts, this should run as a companion to the martial art and with Shoto-Ryu karate it is part of it.
There are many things that the practice has to offer-if you practised regularly it will help to strengthen the body, make you fitter, it will help to increase your concentration, it will give you self-discipline and help to defend yourself from attack.
All these things can be possible to any one, all that is required is the first step. We do warm up exercises that are used to prepare the body for the practice, this involves some strengthening techniques and some flexibility techniques, both are designed to benefit the body physically, mentally and spiritually.
East Midlands Shoto-Ryu karate brings the principals of Yoga, Tai Chi and karate into its martial art by developing the body, mind and spirit to become one, all working together.

The Tai chi club has been running at the Glenmore Centre since 1995 ran by Doug Gerrard who has this to say about the club.
I started my Tai Chi training in 1982 where I learnt initially the Long Yang style. The Tai chi style that is taught on Sundays is the Chen style Tai Chi.
This style is considered to be the original form of the major styles practices today. It contains two major sets, both of which are practised, the second one (Cannon ball fist) is only practiced by those who can do the first set.
We also practice some sticky hand techniques which are techniques that involve the sticking of hands between 2 opponents – this form of practice helps to generate sensitivity to different energies.
Again, these are not practiced until some understanding of the sets has been developed. The practice also includes the CHEN single and double broadsword forms.
The sets are demonstrated by showing the martial content of the technique, this will allow the practitioner to understand what the techniques are used for and will enable the practitioner to develop a mind or an imagination of the set.
The mind directs the energy, so by having an understanding of the techniques this will allow the energy to move. The CHEN sets that are practiced have in their content the slow motion that people associate with TAI CHI but develop points of energy releases or fast motions.
The combinations of these create a set that has both the dynamic representation and the softness that is inherent in all Tai Chi. The flowing of the set can be considered as moving ZEN, consequently breathing methods are inherent in the practice to help to allow the energy to flow – this is called CHI KUNG, the breath is the link between the mind and the body, because if the breath can not operate smoothly then the body will not move smoothly.
